4 schools awarded for improved performance, sanitation

RWAMAGANA — The Ministry of Education and the First Lady’s office on Thursday awarded cash prizes to four schools in Rwamagana for improved performance in girls’ education and sanitation.

The schools which received the awards include two secondary schools of Ecole des Sciences Infirmier de Rwamagana (ESI) and St. Kizito of Musha while the primary schools include Aurola Jeovani and Runyinya Primary schools.

The first winner got Frw1 million while the second scooped Frw500, 000.  ESI Rwamagana emerged the first in the category of Secondary schools, followed by St. Kizito Musha.

 In the primary school category, Aurola Jeovani primary school took the first position while Runyinya Primary school emerged second.

All schools both government and private operating in the district participated in the competitions.

Presiding over the award giving ceremony at the district headquarters, the Mayor valens Ntezirembo, thanked the winning schools and called on other head teachers to pick a leaf from their colleagues. 

Ntezirembo asked parents not to neglect their role of proper upbringing of their children, but work closely with teachers for proper child nurturing.

The ceremony was attended by head teachers of primary and secondary schools, parents’ representatives, church and local leaders.
