NYABIHU - At least 15 legislators and other parliamentary staff, on Saturday, joined Nyabihu residents to build classrooms for the Nine-year Basic Education at GS saint Raphael in Rambura sector. This was during the monthly community work, Umuganda.
The activity is a part of the Parliament’s programme of working closely with community members in various government development programmes.
"We are here to join hands with the residents in community work,’ Deputy Speaker and team leader, Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo said.
"We also used the opportunity to discuss the opportunities and obligations of the East African common market which is due to start July and the liberation day celebrations,” he added.
Speaking to The New Times, Nyabihu Mayor, Jean damascene Ndagijimana, commended the MP’s for reaching out to the people.
"The MP’s out reach program is good, it has made residents feel they are part of the government,” Ndagijimana said.
