RUBAVU - DEFENCE Minister, Gen James Kabarebe, yesterday met with his Congolese counterpart, Charles Mwando Nsimba in the North Kivu town of Goma where they discussed security mechanisms to fight negative forces in the region.

Kabarebe underscored the importance of the meeting and said that they shall continue meeting in order to find strategies to tackle the threats

"We shall not give them time,” Kabarebe said adding that they were also meeting in order to share intelligence information reports aimed at realising a mutual goal.

"We have met here to discuss how to deal with this negative force here in our country .including FDRL, LRA, , a new faction of CNDP led by Gad Ngabo and other forces which keep destabilizing the countries,” Nsimba added.

According to Kabarebe, the two countries have achieved a lot together in terms of fighting negative forces and bringing peace in the region.

"Our intelligence teams have compiled a report to assess our weaknesses and strengths regarding the enemy, and now we have agreed on the mechanisms to counter the negative forces. We are going to give a report to our Heads of State,” Kabarebe said.

"What we want is peace in Rwanda, peace in Congo and peace in the region. We want to have stability but that doesn’t come in one day, we need to unite our efforts and keep meeting to minimise threats,” Nsimba added.
