KARONGI - Many residents of Karongi yesterday joined hands in the monthly communal work (Umuganda) to kick-start the construction of new classrooms for Groupe Scholaire de Kibuye.

Joseph Ntakirutimana, the school’s director welcomed the initiative.

"It is a very important boost when each of us participates in such activities that are meant to benefit of the general public. This is a fundamental investment for our children and grand children,” he said.

He explained that participation in the development of the education sector gives a sense of ownership to the parents for having successfully contributed to the future generation.

Similarly, most parents expressed optimism and gratitude over the joint exercise.

"It’s very rewarding to contribute in the construction of classrooms in which our children will gain knowledge,” Philip Kanyandekwe, one of the parents noted.
57 classrooms will be built in the district.
