Patrick Bibarwa Kitoko is a Rwandan singer who started his determined march to stardom in 2004.
Kitoko has gained prominence in the local music industry. He is popular for his Afro beat Music which has led to him getting awards which includes two successive Salax awards scooping his most recent at Petit Stade early this month. He beat other four contestants in the category of Afro beat music. Kitoko admits that that was one of his most inspiring achievements so far. His compositions are often played at parties, nightclubs, and in many other happening places.
He has produced various popular songs which include ‘Manyobwa, ‘Igendere’, ‘Ikiragi’, and ‘You’. ‘Ikiragi’ made major headlines in Rwanda, as it was seen as offensive to deaf and dumb people. The song was a massive hit too.
The word ‘Ikiragi’ is a Kinyarwanda word which literally means a person who has hearing and speech disabilities. His most recent song ‘You’ is currently enjoying extensive air play at the local stations and is ranked in the top ten hits of the Rwandan charts.
