The Minister of Youth has urged them to always aspire to create employment. Protais Mitali said this on Thursday while addressing members of the press regarding the ongoing Youth Week which ends tomorrow.

The "Youth Week” was organised as part of celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the Rwanda National Youth Council (RNYC).

"For a better future of our country, the youth have to embark on three main principles; employment, entrepreneurship and employment creation,” he said.

He appealed to the youth to embrace vocational training programmes because they will equip them with skills for setting up their own projects which will enable them to solve the unemployment crisis.

The minister added that in order to achieve vision 2020, the ministry has provided a platform to young people to assess the role they can play towards the development of the country and encouraged them to harness new strategies and tools to get their message heard.

"Within the last 10 years of RNYC’s existence, the youth have achieved a lot towards achieving economic empowerment in the country,” he noted.

"Motivating the youth through deliberate inclusion, information dissemination and participation, is our main priority towards achieving the vision 2020”.

Mitali underscored that Rwandan youth should take a proactive role in engaging with their counterparts from the EAC bloc in order to enhance deep integration.

He challenged them to take advantage of any opportunity that comes their way and make a difference in their communities in ways that that would provide them with tangible benefits and develop healthier communities.
