KAYONZA - Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) dentists on Wednesday embarked on its outreach programme of treating several patients at Mukarange health centre, Kayonza district.

The free treatment is expected to last for four days, before the dentists shift to another area, according to health centre officials.

Captain Aimable Nkubito, attached to Kanombe Hospital, said that his team is happy to treat patients with serious need of dental care.

He said that apart from offering treatment, the dentists are also meant to teach the people how to keep their teeth healthy.

Nkubito added that the outreach has attracted over 200 patients everyday. The officer -in -charge of Mukarange health centre, Chantal Uwanyirigira, said the turn out of residents had revealed that there are many dental cases which are not reported to health personnel.

"We did not know that there so many people with dental problems until RDF dentists came here. For sure, we wish they stayed longer,” she said.

Ananias Kainamura, 84, a resident of Nyagatovu village said that the RDF medics outreach was timely.

"My wife and I had been spending sleepless nights for the last couple of months. We had a stubborn dental problem which has been sorted out by the RDF medics,” he told The New Times.
