EDITOR,

I was utterly shocked by the revelation in The New Times yesterday that some nurse in Kirehe District raped several of his patients before he ran away. Most disturbing is that he had been fired from his previous work place before he got his current job.

This should serve as a lesson to every institution in Rwanda to seriously consider the criminal record of their employees before they employ them. Otherwise, we’ll be ignorantly working with people who are capable of committing the most outrageous crimes possible.

Besides that, I hope that people all over the country start respecting their professions so that we can work in a trustworthy environment.
