Although we have been utterly disappointed by African teams and their displays at the World Cup, we still have a glimmer of hope, thanks to Ghana.

It would have been tragic if we had not gotten even one country representing us in the next round.

I appeal to my fellow Africans to do everything they can in supporting Ghana so that they can go forward and create African football history by getting to the semi-finals, or even the finals.

We all saw what happened to France, so it’s not just an African ‘thing’. My only appeal is that African governments start taking sports seriously as an avenue for development.

You can all imagine how South Africa is going to develop further now that they hosted the World Cup.
