NYAGATARE — The Rwanda Defence Forces medical services projects to treat at least 2,000 patients this week in Nyagatare District, as part of the ongoing Army Week.
Speaking to The New Times at Nyagatare Hospital yesterday, Lt. Dr. Eddu Ndahiro, who heads the health department in 511 Brigade that operates in the Eastern Province, said that the exercise is going on well.
‘The Army Week in this region is on track. We are receiving a big number of patients and we expect the number to go beyond two thousand,’ he said.
Most patients had dental, respiratory, and eye problems.
Annett Kankindi, one of the patients, hailed RDF’s humanitarian activities.
"It always comes as a surprise to see our army going beyond security to carry out such voluntary activities.
I have had dental problems which are costly to treat, but RDF has eased my burden free of charge. We really thank them for the good work they are doing,’ she said.
