MBUYU Twite has returned to full training after a five-month lay-off. The Amavubi and APR influential defender was forced to watch from the sidelines as the army side strolled to the 2010 Cecafa Kagame Cup and a record 11th Primus league title.

Mbuyu, who can also play as a midfielder, had to undergo surgery in India after suffering serious ankle damage during the Primus league first round clash against Etincelles. Kevin Beningabo was the culprit as his reckless tackle nearly ended Twite’s career.

According to APR’s Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa, the defender is already working hard to try and regain match fitness.

"He is back in training and is already working on his weight. He has been training alone but should join his teammates soon,” Kalisa said.

Mbuyu has won four trophies since his arrival at the club back in 2007.

He was also influential for Amavubi during the 2010 World Cup/Nations’ Cup qualifiers, Cecafa Challenge Cup and CHAN competitions.

APR wind up their Primus league campaign this Saturday when they take on arch rivals Rayon Sport at Amahoro stadium. The military side, which tops the charts with 54 points, has already won the league title.

Other matches expected over the weekend include a clash between Musanze and AS Kigali; Amagaju will play Marines at Nyamagabe while Kiyovu will host Police at Mumena.
