Raoul Jean Pierre Shungu has been relieved of his coaching duties with the Seychelles national football team ‘Pirates’.

It is said that Shungu was sacked by the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) after a series of poor results.

The former Rayon Sport Coach who took charge of the small island’s national team back in 2006 failed to win any of Seychelles’ seven internationals in 2007.

The DR Congo born international who claims to be on his way back to Seychelles could be on the verge of returning to his former club.

Despite exhibiting poor managerial duties in Seychelles, the blues management has expressed its interest in re-signing the 48-year old.

Rayon Sport legal advisor Claver Zitony Wednesday said, "We know they have sacked him but that can’t stop us from giving him the job. We shall give him a chance and when he fails, we shall comeback to decide on what to do.”

"We have to keep faith in him and hope for the better when he is in charge,” Zitony added.  In Seychelles, Shungu was acting as the technical director and head coach of all national teams, at all levels in the Seychelles Republic.

Shungu is said to be one of Rayon’s most celebrated coaches.

During his time at Rayon Sports between 1998 and 2004, Shungu guided the club to 17 trophies, most notable being the Cecafa Club Championship trophy in 1999; the first Cecafa title by a local club.

Although he guided Rayon to the 2004 national league title, their last till date, he later fell out with the club management over its management policy and meager pay.

He later landed a two-year contract with the Seychelles’ football federation.

Since his exit at Rayon, the club only boasts of the Amahoro Cup (in 2005).
