Junior Wasps to regroup for Congo test

RWANDA’S U-20 side, the junior wasps will regroup at the end of this month ahead of next month’s Africa Youth Championship first leg qualifier against Congo Brazzaville.

The team will start non-residential training on June 28 before entering camp on July 3.

"We will enter camp on July 3 and play a couple of friendly games before playing the first leg in Congo Brazzaville,” Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh who also doubles as the U-20 coach said.

The first leg will be played on July 24 while the return leg will be staged in Kigali on August 14.

Meanwhile, the junior Teranga Lions of Senegal booked their place in the next round after a 1-0 victory over their Tunisian counterparts in Monastir.

Senegal advanced on goal aggregates (1-0) after a barren draw during the first leg held in Dakar two weeks ago.
Senegal will now play Morocco in the next round.

Tanzania’s U-20 team Ngorongoro Heroes also cruised into the next round with an impressive 3-1 victory over Malawi’s Junior Flames. The Tanzania youngsters who had forced a 2-2 draw in the first leg match played away in Blantyre, Malawi exuded great confidence in the preliminary round return leg and battered their battling opponents to complete a 5-3 win on aggregate.

Twenty teams are chasing for seven slots.
