GATSIBO - An unidentified man was last Friday set on fire by unknown assailants in Kibingo village, Kabarore Sector in Gatsibo District. Police officials said that the body of the deceased could not be identified since he was burnt beyond recognition.
GATSIBO - An unidentified man was last Friday set on fire by unknown assailants in Kibingo village, Kabarore Sector in Gatsibo District. Police officials said that the body of the deceased could not be identified since he was burnt beyond recognition.
"Residents were going to fetch water in the morning and found a dead body near the bush. We could not identify him properly because the large part of his body was burnt with firewood,” a police official at Kabarore police station told The New Times.
He added that police was carrying out investigations to a ascertain those behind the gruesome act.
"We have not arrested any suspect but investigations are still going on,” he said.
When The New Times visited the scene on Monday morning, residents were still in shock.
"We have been carrying out night patrols but we were shocked to hear that assailants killed one of our residents,’ Theogene Sindayigaya, the Executive Secretary of Kabarore Cell said.
Meanwhile, police sources said that in the same sector, a 28-year-old man, Joseph Ndayambaje, was attacked by unknown assailants who dumped him in a nearby dry well but fortunately survived after he was rushed to Kabarore health centre where he is currently undergoing treatment.
