RUBAVU - The Minister of Defence, Gen. James Kabarebe, and his Congolese counterpart, Mwando Nsimba, have reaffirmed their commitment to share security information to contain any security threats in the two countries.

According to Gen Kabarebe, the meeting, which took place in Rubavu, is part of a peace building process in the region.
"This meeting is apart of what our two Heads of State agreed upon, to restore relations and build peace together in the region,” Kabarebe said, adding that ever since the joint military operation against the rebels in DRC ended, Congolese soldiers have continued with the operations which have registered success.

Speaking to The New Times, the Congolese Minister said that forces like FDLR rebels and the CNDP faction led by Gad Ngabo continue to pose a security threat in his country.

"All these forces I’m talking about operate from our soil and continue to cause chaos in Rwanda,” Mwamba said.
Both ministers agreed to keep working closely together to curb insecurity in the region.

"The issue of security cannot be achieved in one day; we will continue to meet again and again until we get what we want,” Kabarebe said.

The meeting was also attended by defence intelligence officials from both countries.
