A group of Members of Parliament (MPs) from Kigali City have appealed to residents of Rutunga Sector, Gasabo District to effectively take part in the country’s programmes so as to foster development.

Led by MP Saidat Mukanoheri, the five lawmakers made the call, Friday, during a visit to the area to update the residents on the government programmes and to listen to their problems.

MP Pierre Claver Rwaka, called upon the  the residents to fully embrace the August Presidential elections.

"Your vote determines the future of this country,” he said.
The lawmakers urged them join programmes like Umurenge SACCO and subscribebe to the health insurance programme, Mutuelle de Sante.

Yvonne Uwayisenga, another lawmaker, urged the residents to desist from family wrangles and instead concentrate on poverty eradication programmes. She observed that Gender Based Violence (GBV) has derailed some families’ progress.

"Women’s rights are violated everyday. They left their homes to go and build families but not to be beaten. The country cannot develop if there are such cases of GBV,” Uwayisenga said.
