Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have been encouraged to play an important role in promoting peace, unity and reconciliation in the country. The call was made Thursday by the Executive Secretary of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC), Dr Jean Baptist Habyarimana, while addressing over 60 participants from various NGOs during a one-day meeting it organized at Hilltop Hotel.

The call was made Thursday by the Executive Secretary of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC), Dr Jean Baptist Habyarimana, while addressing over 60 participants from various NGOs during a one-day meeting it organized at Hilltop Hotel.
Habyarimana requested them to always identify weaknesses in the national reconciliation process, and to help the commission come up with appropriate remedies.
He also asked them to strengthen their collaboration with NURC and to always compile monthly reports on the situation of unity and reconciliation in the country and send them to NURC.
Participants were also urged to sensitize the youth and other Rwandans to actively fight the Genocide ideology, divisionism, and racism in the country.
