UN to boost vulnerable children’s education

The United Nations’ Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP) Rwanda will soon embark on a campaign to provide education to vulnerable children.

The United Nations’ Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP) Rwanda will soon embark on a campaign to provide education to vulnerable children.

Speaking during the celebrations to mark this year’s International Day of the African Child at Gisimba Memorial Centre in Nyakabanda Sector, Nyarugenege District, the coordinator of GCAP Rwanda, Rene Niyonteze, said the move is aimed at giving all children access to education.

"There are many children on the streets because of poverty,” he said.

During the event, GCAP Rwanda donated to 242 orphans school items, food stuffs and an assortment of goods worth Rwf1.2 million. It will also sponsor the best student attain his or her higher education.
