The Chairperson of the Parti de la Solidarite’ et du Progres (PSP), Phoebe Kanyange, was yesterday elected by members of the Forum for Political Parties (FFPP) as their new Spokesperson replacing Jean Baptiste Rucibigango who has been serving for the last six months.

The Parties’ Forum also elected Christine Mukabunani the PS-Imberakuri President as the Deputy Spokesperson replacing the Chairperson of the Centrist Political Party (PPC), Alvera Mukabaramba.

In her acceptance speech, Kanyange thanked the Forum for putting their trust in her.

"I am very privileged to be the Spokesperson of this important institution, I promise to work tireselly to develop our Forum and promote good governance,” she said.
She is the first female to hold the position.

"During my term of office I will ensure that there is peace, unity, cooperation and democracy in our Forum,” she noted.

On her part, Mukabunani said that being elected in such a position is a sign that shows PS-Imberakuri seeks to foster unity and peace with other parties.

"People believe that our party is full of problems, but we solved those problems and now we are focused on promoting unity, peace and democracy in our country,” she explained.

She stressed that, cooperation is very important in the Forum in order to promote good governance in the country.

Anicet Kayigema, the Secretary General of the FFPP, attributed the election of the two ladies as a sign of promoting gender equality in the Forum’s leadership.
