Yesterday, June 16, all roads led to the Amahoro Stadium as the Rwanda National police celebrated their 10th anniversary. The event was officiated by President Paul Kagame.

Organisers made it a point to emphasise that the community policing committees performed first, to cheer up the crowds with morale boosting songs, including ‘Tuzarwubaka’—(we shall build our nation), which kept the jam packed stadium to their feet.

Local artists like Tom Close and Shanel, Inganzo ngali (a traditional dance troupe) thrilled the crowd.

Shanel performed a list of tracks, including her ‘Ndarota’, while Tom Close could not leave the stage without performing his famous ‘Si beza’ single.   

The National police band and Gishali police academy  also presented equally exclusive performances.

The festival was grand in scope and well organised. It crammed several modern and traditional dance routines, not to mention the intervention force performance.

Fans with an affinity for hyper acts reserved space mostly in the ordinary seats and danced vigorously without any interruption. For the festivalgoer who wanted to take in musical and scenic delights, Amahoro stadium was the best place to be.
