Rwanda premier league side, As Kigali have announced that skipper Haruna Niyonzizama is leaving that cub with the midfielder considering his future elsewhere.
Times Sport understands that Haruna has agreed to join Libyan topflight club Al Ta’awn Sports.
The club officially bid farewell to the Rwanda international on December 31.
"We bid farewell to our captain Haruna Fundi as he joins Al Ta’awn Sports club of Libya,” reads club’s Twitter statement.
Niyonzima who has over 104 caps on the Rwanda national team previously played for AS Kigali in 2019 after joining from Simba SC but returned to Tanzania and joined Yanga in 2020.
In 2021, Niyonzima re-joined AS Kigali from Tanzania giants Young Africans.
The playmaker, one of the most decorated players in the region in the game, made history in 2019 when he became the first player to win the Tanzania Premier League title five consecutive seasons.
He helped Young Africans win three league titles in a row between 2015 and 2017, before moving to Simba SC with whom they won the title twice during the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons.
Prior to moving to Tanzania, Niyonzima had previously featured for Rayon for two years (2006-2007) before crossing to rivals APR where he played, from late 2007, and won several titles – including the 2010 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
