The Police have done a great job in promoting gender parity within our societies, especially through their vigorous campaigns against Gender Based Violence.

Another obvious attribute to our police is the security they have maintained over the years. There is no threat to my business as it was before (1994 Genocide) because we were always on tension because of robbers, but now the police are close to us, and there is immediate intervention in case of any problem.

Road accidents have significantly reduced and access to driving licenses has been eased, to which I really credit the national police, this never happens in other countries.

As Motorcycle Taxi drivers, we have been shaped to operate with maximum discipline through abiding by traffic rules.

The discipline that characterizes our police officers has outstandingly helped in ensuring that ours is a safer country for anyone to venture in any business they want.
In the past, the previous institutions never handled people as human beings and this has been the core of the Rwanda National Police.

I would, however, like the situation to prevail in all corners of the country, because I hear, there are some police officers, especially in villages, who still conduct themselves unprofessionally because most residents there are ignorant of their rights.  

John Kananura, a business man owner of a boutique in Kigali City, said that since setting up his business, he has never faced anything to do with robbers, attributing it to security by the police.

"You see, you can’t have a stable business for more than ten years unless there is recognized security in the country. We have been having total peace in our business environment in this city because of the police and in this I commend it,” said Kananura.
