The Office of the Ombudsman has revealed that a new policy is being drawn to incorporate all Non Governmental Organisations and the private sector in the campaign against corruption.

In an interview with The New Times, the Deputy Ombudsman, Augustine Nzindukiyimana, revealed that the new policy will emphasize that civil society organisations, the private sector and all government institutions take part in the campaign.

"In this new anticorruption policy, we are going to put much emphasis on NGOs and the private sector to get involved in fighting against corruption, because that is when we shall be able to combat it effectively and efficiently” Nzindukiyimana said.

He said that the new policy will require civil society and the private sector to report any case of corruption that they come across. 

Nzindukiyimana revealed that cases of corruption reduced this year compared to the previous years; however he added that they still have a long way to go.
