RWANDA’S top golfer Emmanuel Ruterana says that he needs a week of training at the Kitante golf course to win the Kampala leg of the KCB East African Golf tour.
The leg will run from July 7-10.

Ruterana, who turned 28 early this year, was impressive in the just ended Kigali leg where he finished second behind Kenya’s Simon Ngige.

But the soft spoken golfer is not settling for second best.
"I intend to travel to Kampala at least eight days before the tournament so that I have a good feel of the course. I have played on it a couple of times but I still need much practice,” Ruterana said.

The elite golfer also confirmed to Times Sport that he will not take part in the KCB East Africa Golf Tour Nakuru leg which tees off on Wednesday because of lack of sponsorship.

"It is expensive for me to take part in two golf tournaments when I don’t have sponsorship, so I will not participate in the Nakuru leg.” 40 professionals are expected to hunt for Rwf7.5m prize money in the four-day event.

While the overall winner gets to pocket Rwf1.4m, second and third finishers will bag Rwf1.08m and Rwf817, 500 courtesy of Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB).

The 2010 KCB East African Golf tour is a series of eight tournaments staged in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda.
