Olivier Karekezi’s professional career with Swedish club, Helsingborg is in balance but  Danish first division club FC Nordsjaelland has shown interest.

The Amavubi Stars skipper told Times Sport over the weekend that he is not certain about his future with Helsingborg.

"Helsingborg coach Stuart Baxter was the one behind my transfer to FC Nordsjaelland and things were set to be finalized but he resigned before any deal could be reached.

"At the moment, I am only waiting for the Helsingborg administrators to appoint a new manager, that is when I’d be in a good position to know where excatly my future lies,’ the former APR star admitted.

It is said that Baxter resigned over frustrations of repeatedly being forced to sell–off senior players by the club management.

During his time at Helsingborg, Baxter helped the club to 8th place finish in the league and also guided it to the last 32 in the UEFA Cup.

Last season, FC Nordsjaelland finished fifth in the Danish Superliga. The club has signed  former Helsingborg and Swedish international midfielder Andreas Dahl.

Since joing the Swedish club in 2005, Karekezi has made 60 appearances and scored 18 goals. His best year at Helsingborg was 2006 when he scored 11 league goals, making him the club top scorer that season.

The 26-year-old is currently on holiday back in Rwanda. He hopped the national team to second place at the recently concluded Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Rwanda lost to Sudan 4-2 on penalties in the final after full time including extra time had ended 2-2. Uganda took third place after defeating Burundi 2-0.
