5,000 civil servants to take English lessons

KIGALI - The Ministry of Public Service and Labour, has embarked on a three-year project that will see over 5000 civil servants master the English language.

This was revealed yesterday by the Minister of Public Service, Anastase Murekezi,in an interview with The New Times

"The programme will commence this month and 560 beneficiaries will enrol in the first year, but we are targeting to train 5,000 in a period of three years” Murekezi revealed.

Murekezi said that the programme will be funded by the Belgian  government through the ministry.

He added that the public servants will be trained at Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management (RIAM) centres in Kigali and Muhanga District by tutors from the British Council.

The minister also revealed some of trainees will be selected to become trainers of trainers after the course.
