KAYONZA – Teachers from Bedford Girls School in the United Kingdom (UK) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen   relationships with Kayonza Modern Secondary School. The teachers made the announcement on Tuesday at the start of their seven-day visit to the school.

They were received at Kayonza Secondary School by hundreds of students and teachers. The two schools have a special relationship that was initiated two years ago, according to the school authorities. 

"The two schools’ administrators have been visiting each other and soon, we shall start sending our students as well,” said Stephen Rwamurangwa, the school’s head teacher. 

"Rwanda children still have memory of our past dark history…our relationship with Bedford Girls School therefore, gives opportunity to share experiences.”

Mair Hughes, the deputy head teacher in charge of curriculum at Bedford School, said that her delegation was overwhelmed by their experience while visiting.

She added that she was humbled by Kayonza students’ enthusiasm and reception when they arrived at the school. 
 "All you need in doing well in an education environment is motivation…the students and teachers of this school are highly motivated. So, there is no doubt that the sky will be the limit to their success,” she said. 

She revealed that Kayonza Secondary School students would benefit from Bredford school’s offer for ICT support. 
Naome Nayebare, the school’s head girl said that the students looked forward to learning a lot from their counterparts in the UK.
