Kagame attends France Africa Summit Early this week, President Paul Kagame attended the 25th France Africa summit, following an invitation extended to him by President Nicholas Sarkorzy during his visit to Kigali in February. Around 30 Africa Heads of States attended the two days summit which mainly discussed issues of governance, reinforcement of peace and security, as well as climate change.

Kagame attends France Africa Summit

Early this week, President Paul Kagame attended the 25th France Africa summit, following an invitation extended to him by President Nicholas Sarkorzy during his visit to Kigali in February. Around 30 Africa Heads of States attended the two days summit which mainly discussed issues of governance, reinforcement of peace and security, as well as climate change.

Cabinet reshuffles senior police officers

The cabinet chaired by President Paul Kagame at UrugwiroVillage last Friday reshuffled some senior police officers, appointing assistant commissioner of police (ACP), John Bosco Kabera as the commissioner of human resources management and support services Department.

The meeting also appointed ACP Emmanuel Butera as the commissioner of operations and public order department, while ACP Christophe Bizimungu was confirmed as the commissioner for Criminal Investigations Department (CID)

Kigali hosts 2010 Energy Global awards

Dr.B.P Agrawal Thursday this week emerged the winner of this year’s Energy Global World Award after his innovative project was voted the best by the audience at a colourful ceremony held in Kigali, Prime Minister Bernard Makuza, Minister of Infrastructure, Vincent Karega and Environment and Lands Minister, Stanislas Kamanzi, were among the officials who attende the ceremony which drew representatives from 150 countries across the World.

Erlinder appears in Court

Embattled American lawyer Peter Erlinder, this Friday appeared in Court for the preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to all charges leveled against him. They included denying and minimizing the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Erlinder told the court that he was not aware that his publications back in America could be tantamount to Genocide denial. The hearing continues on Monday.

Kagame commends Kigali business community

President Paul Kagame on Friday commended the Kigali business community, for their hard work and determination to form cooperatives which have significantly contributed to the country’s economic development.  Kagame said that the purpose of his visit was to thank the business community for the great work which has resulted in the improvement of living standards.

The President made the remarks during his visit to Quartier Commerciale-the commercial hub located in down town Kigali.
 
Second Genocide suspect arrested on Mayotte Island

Another Genocide suspect sought in the killings in 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, has been arrested in the French territory of Mayotte, media agencies have reported. Octavie Ngenzi, 56, is the second suspect to be nabbed in the Indian Ocean Island of Mayotte.
