Celebrating and naming gorillas in Rwanda is so important because it not only preserves the gorilla families, but helps to improve the livelihoods of Musanze residents.

While Kwita Izina commences, today, Rwandans should be proud that the rest of the world has recognized her commitment to conserve the environment and protect ecosystems that serve as habitats for these beautiful gorillas.  

I commend RDB- Tourism and organisers of Kwita Izina for their pledge to raise awareness nationally and internationally as they continue to protect Rwanda’s mountain gorillas.
