AFTER weeks of intensive training in Gicumbi, Rwanda’s U-20 female handball team is ready to have a go at the first phase of the Zone 5 junior championship which rolls off this Monday at Amahoro stadium.
Rwanda will contend with Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi on a round robin format were the winner will go on to play in the Africa U-20 championship.
Rwanda’s coach Ezekiel Muhire Nkusi who is set to trim down his provisional 16-man team to 14 believes the players are physically and mentally prepared for the tourney.
"We have been locked in serious training over the last two to three weeks and I have no doubt that the team will put up a good fight,” Nkusi said.
