NEW side Kigali Basketball Club (KBC) will make their league debut this morning when they take on CSK at Primature. The team which was put together by former basketball players made its competitive debut in the Labour Day tournament back in May and it did not disappoint.

Led by former APR forward Gerould Ndugu, power forward Mathias Nunuri and point guard Patrick Njunga, the team stunned many as they trounced National University of Rwanda (UNR) 95-47 and fallen giants Espoir 74-64 before eventually losing to heavy weights APR 62-72.

KBC Coach Callixite Rutajogerwa now expects his guns to build on that display this afternoon. "It is a good challenge for us and we shall try to do our best and enjoy the game.”

Moments later, defending champions APR will open their title defence against UGB, 2004 league champions Espoir will play Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) while Ferwaba’s select side will lock horns with Western Province side Rusizi.
