GICUMBI – Yaramba market located within Nyankenke Sector was officially inaugurated on Thursday, by Gicumbi district officials. Addressing over 2,000 Nyankenke residents during the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Bonane Nyangezi said the market was built at a total cost of Rwf 200 million and urged residents to utilize it to boost their economic wellbeing.
GICUMBI – Yaramba market located within Nyankenke Sector was officially inaugurated on Thursday, by Gicumbi district officials.
Addressing over 2,000 Nyankenke residents during the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Bonane Nyangezi said the market was built at a total cost of Rwf 200 million and urged residents to utilize it to boost their economic wellbeing.
"This market is an income generating asset for Gicumbi District and neighboring districts of Burera and Rulindo. It has a slaughter house and two butcheries and is able to accommodate a capacity of over 1,200 traders,” said Nyangezi.
He reminded residents that favourable weather conditions was a prime factor in enabling them to engage in horticultural production which offered higher returns.
The electricity and water utility company (RECO-RWASCO) Byumba station manager Gilbert Rubayita promised to avail electricity to Yaramba market traders before the end of this year.
"All necessary requirements for the installation of electricity at Yaramba market have been put in place and work shall start as soon as possible”, said Rubayita.
Also present at the ceremony was Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF) 408 Brigade commander Brig. General Eric Murokore.
