AMAVUBI have to find a new skipper for Sunday’s crunch 2011 CHAN qualifier against Tanzania following Ferwafa’s decision to omit Patrick Mafisango from the squad.
According to the body’s CEO Jules Kalisa, the decision came after Mafisango’s failure to show up for training.
"Till this day, he has not reported to camp and he has not given any explanation,” the official said.
Amavubi coach Sellas Tetteh could also not explain why the defender had failed to show up.
"I don’t know why Mafisango has turned down the call but that is not a problem because I will use the available players,” the Ghanaian said.
Reports suggest that the APR skipper was gutted after starting from the bench in the first leg and could have made his decision not to ever play again for Amavubi after that incident.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Taifa Stars will jet back to Tanzania on Sunday night ahead of Monday’s eagerly awaited friendly against five-time world champions Brazil in Dar es Salaam.
