UK media company raises Rwf250 m for Rwanda charity

NYAGATARE – The Daily Mirror, a British newspaper, through international NGO Oxfam, has raised funds to facilitate Rwebare Primary School and a health centre in Gatunda Sector, Nyagatare district.

Speaking to The New Times, after a local football tournament that was organized at the school by the donors Wednesday, Ryan Parry, who represented the news organization said that Rwf 250 million was raised to strengthen partnership between the company and Rwandans while contributing to the development of Rwandan citizens.

Innocent Hitayezu, an official in charge of advocacy in Oxfam Great Britain hailed The Daily Mirror’s move, adding that such efforts date back to 2005.

‘In 2005, The Daily Mirror workers helped residents who were facing food shortages in some parts of Nyagatare district,’ he said.
