KIGALI - As part of activities to mark this year’s World Environmental Day (WED), Fina Bank will plant over 1500 bamboo trees in Nyabugogo wetland, Nyarugenge district.
Speaking to The New Times yesterday, the bank’s Executive Director and Business Banking, Kenneth Agaba, said that conserving the environment is part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR).
"We had requested Kigali City to give us an area where we can plant these trees and they allocated us to Nyabugogo wetland which is being encroached on by the population”
Rwanda Environment management Authority (REMA) had written to all businesses around the area, most of them garages, to vacate the wetland.
During a monthly communal work, Umuganda last Saturday, employees of the bank cleared the area where the trees will be planted.
"Kigali being a green and clean city, we found that bamboo trees can add up on the beauty of the city,” Agaba said.
