THE Silverbacks will take on IRB affiliates Uganda in the prestigious Safaricom 7s that kicks off this Friday in Nairobi-Kenya.
The first-timers are clearly the underdogs in Group C which also has Ponsonby (New Zealand); Hamilton Raiders (South Africa) but Silverbacks care-taker coach Gerald Nsenga maintains that he is comfortable with the ‘underdogs’ tag
"We have been drawn against very experienced sides so the underdog tag takes away all the pressure allowing players to express themselves on pitch,” Nsenga said.
15 teams are in contention and they include; Les Bleus (France), Samurai, Zambia, Emerging Boks (South Africa), Bristol (England), Namibia, Tanzania, Argentina, Zimbabwe, Grenoble (France), Shujaa (Kenya), Hamilton Raiders (South Africa), Ponsonby (New Zealand), Uganda and Rwanda.
The two-day event has also attracted schools, veterans and women teams.
