MUHANGA - Kenyan traders have brought a taste of East African products to residents of Gitarama town in Nyamabuye sector, Muhanaga district.

An exposition organized at Gitarama Taxi Park, has attracted many residents of different walks of life. The exposition started on May 30 and is expected to end this Friday.

However, Jackson Muturi, the head of the delegation, told The New Times that while most residents have shown interest in the Kenyan products real business returns has been slow.

"Doing business has been very slow compared to other areas in Rwanda. Most people here are interested in the items but they lack money to buy,” Muturi said.

He also stated that the returns have been minimal compared to cost incurred. Most of the goods on sale include Kenyan made dresses, shoes, safari caps, and various ornaments that are being sold at varying prices.

Residents say that the timing of the exposition was poor; most people could not afford the items because they have not received their salaries.

"We are interested in buying, but it’s just a bad period of the month. If the expo can be extended then we shall buy,” one resident said.

The Kenyan team is currently contemplating whether to extend the days or alternatively move to other regions of the country.
