FORTY eight cyclists have been confirmed to take part in the second edition of the Kwita Izina cycling challenge tour which paces off tomorrow at Amahoro stadium.
Besides the main category which involves last year’s winner Abraham Ruhumuriza, female and disabled cyclists are also in contention.
"Female cyclists will ride from Musanze to Kigali while the disabled will ride from Shirongi to Kigali,” the executive secretary of the National Cycling federation Emmanuel Murenzi said.
In the main category, cyclists will ride from Kigali to Rubavu with a stop over in Musanze on Day One before heading back to Kigali on Day two.
The winner will get a cash prize of Rwf 450.000.
The top female cyclist will bag Rwf 70.000 while Rwf 40.000 has been reserved for the best disabled cyclist.
Abraham Ruhumuriza won last year’s event to pocketing Rwf0.5m courtesy of Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the sponsors for this year’s edition as well.
