ST.GEORGE striker Jimmy Gatete may not take part in today’s Kagame Cup final after reports became rife that he has fallen out with his Serbian coach Mitcho Sredojveic.

Gatete joined the Ethiopian champions early this year after signing a two-year deal and although he has struggled to break into the starting eleven, his future at the club now looks uncertain after his untimely criticism about Serbian coaches during an interview with a Tanzanian newspaper.

"Serbian coaches are not good enough. They talk a lot but rarely live up to their billing,” the 29-year-old said before adding, "Tanzania should not hire coaches from Serbia.”

During Thursday’s post match press conference between St.George and Atraco, Sredojveic clearly showed that Gatete’s remarks had angered him when asked why Gatete had not been included on the substitution bench for that match.

"Don’t ask me that question again,” a visibly irritated Sredojveic said.

He added, "My friend Ratomir Dujkovic took Rwanda to their first African Nations Cup and he later led Ghana to their first ever World Cup in 2006 so when one player whose career is almost over makes such clumsy comments about Serbian coaches, it beats my understanding.”

Sredojveic went on to challenge Gatete to prove that he merits a place in the squad for the final.

"If he is to be included in the squad tomorrow (today), he needs to prove to me in training,” the Serbian added.
Gatete has only played 9 minutes in this year’s tournament.
