Perfumes are not only for the super-rich; these days any person can afford to buy one and achieve that good scent.

It has been on my mind to talk about good scent and perfumes for a couple of weeks now and I have not been able to ignore it any longer—hence write an article about it in this Sunday’s issue.

Anyone who is obsessed with perfumes will tell you that there is nothing more tantalizing, inviting or wonderful as opening up your favourite bottle of fragrance and dabbing it on our clothes, neck and wrists.

They love the scent because it makes them feel luxurious, special and content all day and night long.

We all need that perfectly and impeccable scent that fits our mood, the weather and the outfit. Whether you are an elderly woman or man, girl or boy, you all need that cool smell, which is found in perfumes.

There are different types of perfumes, including, musks, fruits, florals, spices and others. However, unlike men, most women have one type of scent or even a particular perfume that they love, while others have a few in their collection.

Perfume is a very personal choice, and for unknown reasons, we all have a scent that makes us happy and feel delicious. Some people hunt down and anoint their bodies with top rated perfumes, in order to catch the attention of the opposite sex.

Maybe, even the biggest reason why people wear perfumes is to show off their individuality. The ability to have this kind of individuality through scent directly influences our confidence and self-esteem.

"I don’t wear body spray much, but deodorant is a must. I sweat a lot. Even though I shower everyday, I still need deodorant in the morning and sometimes a second application in the late afternoon,”  says Jean Marie Niyonsenga.

On the other hand, you do not have to worry about smelling bad because you can still survive in the treat of a good scent. You just need to use perfumed lotions; for example, a deodorant body lotion, body mist or even a shampoo can give you simply enough scent to make you, your wallet and your mind comfortable.

Meanwhile, each perfume produces a different scent on different types of skin. For example a perfume that smells great on your friend may not blend well with your skin type.

So pay attention to which perfume suit you best so it can be suitable not only for yourself but for others that are near you too.

How to Make Your Perfume Last
Do you frequently wear your perfume in the morning but by midday it has almost totally disappeared? Well, if you experience this situation, here are some tips on how to make your perfume last much longer.

1. Choose perfume that lasts
Citrus based perfumes tend to disappear rather fast. On the other hand, musks as well as woody based perfumes last much longer. The reason is because the latter evaporate slowly.

2. Apply your perfume in a way that makes it last

Perfumes last longer on moisturized skin which can trap the scent and keep them from evaporating quickly. So apply body lotion or a moisturizer after you shower.

Then, when you spray your perfume, concentrate on your pulse points which are simply areas of your skin where your veins are near the surface and where you can feel your blood circulation.

3. Reapply your perfume when necessary

If your skin is dry, you can bring along a small bottle containing your perfume so you can reapply it if necessary. Generally, perfumes will last between four to eight hours. Of course, it depends on quality as well as the perfume’s essential oils concentration.

Lastly, do not spray on too much perfume. As the saying goes, less is more. It is normal to not be able to smell your own perfume some time after spraying it on.
