How time rushes by? 2010 is no longer new and fresh. We are now knocking on the doors of June, which means the countdown to the festive year end effectively gets underway.
How time rushes by? 2010 is no longer new and fresh. We are now knocking on the doors of June, which means the countdown to the festive year end effectively gets underway.
Remember the dreamy New Year even when you promised yourself a very successful year this time, and the surreal atmosphere of you having been lucky to be able to crossover from one year to the other – again, well; it is time for the time check.
One; have you ticked off anything you had planned to achieve this year from that list of new year resolutions or 2010 goals, assuming you even ever sat down to write any sort of list in the first place?
If your answer in no, then my friend you have not yet learnt the power of writing what you want to achieve on a piece of paper – it is like ending it into your mind!
So you already got to a wrong start, which is not to mean that you can’t achieve anything without writing it down, but it helps immensely. And what if you can’t write; cut a picture of something that represents your goal and it works even better. Ever heard of the saying, a picture is worth a thousand words? Now you know why.
If your answer was yes, then congratulations you have passed the first step towards your 2010 goals. If you haven’t ticked off anything, then the reason might be because, one, you never put up a serious plan on how you are going to achieve that goal.
Let’s say your number one was; I will buy a car. Are you saving enough exactly for the amount that will cost you a car or you are hoping that somewhere between MTN Bebeza and Mutzig Tombola, your chance awaits? Secondly you might have put up a difficult (not impossible – such words should be obliterated from your vocabulary) plan.
Say you want to buy a house worth 100 million Rwanda francs, and your monthly salary is five million.
So you have to minimize your expenses save four million francs every month and take a loan for the rest to cover up. Nice plan, but how effective is it, can you live on one million francs if you are used to living on five million.
The plan is not ‘impossible’ but is difficult. Your goals should be REALISTIC.
If you had realistic goals, perhaps you’re well on the way of your goals. And by the way goals and achievements are not all about money.
If am not wrong, perhaps today your are more confident about yourself, your job or business, your personal life, even if you have burnt your fingers once or twice in any of these, than you were a year ago. It is what we call experience and it helps us to become wiser.
Don’t just think about tangible goals. Think about the quality of your life, your faith, your self belief and your overall contribution to the community around you.
Otherwise, I wish you a confident Sunday.
