Match commentators at the on-going Kagame Cup have left a lot to be desired. More often than not, I have been forced to wonder if they are indeed commentating or merely supporting a particular side.

For all the games I have watched on TVR, all I have heard is Ayayaayayayayayaaya, yooooooooooooooooo, goaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal and hahahahahahahaha.

Till this day, I’m not sure what any of those words, phrases - or call it sentences - mean. I’m sure they are better placed to break it down for me.

For those who are keen followers of the Barclays Premier league and UEFA Champions league, you will agree with me that while the action on the pitch may be exciting, the match commentary adds that touch to the whole thing.

It is not just about giving viewers a timely update on the match proceedings, but also to spice up the match by feeding them (viewers) with player profiles say; age, previous club, number of goals scored, clubs linked to the player, injury history, wages, injury history and future ambitions among others.

On a lighter note though, I would like to convey my best wishes to APR. They did Rwanda proud by knocking out Sofapaka last evening.
