After having won the 2010 Groove Awards with Skiza, which sought to promote, expose and celebrate gospel talent across the East African region, The Sisters have been motivated to uplift their music career and have now embarked on new plans.

The Groove awards, on May 1 at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, saw Rwanda’s gospel music group, ‘The Sister’ emerge the ‘Best Artist of The Year’ in Rwanda.

The group is comprised of four female artists Irene Gabby Kamanzi, Phanny Gisele Wibabara, Aline Gahongayire and Uwitonze Clementine, a.k.a Miss Tonzi.

In an interview, the group’s spokesperson, Wibabara said that the award was a surprise to the group and that it was a signal that everything is possible.

"The award has motivated us to keep working enthusiastically individually and also as a group” Wibabara told The New Times.

"We released two singles as a group, which are already on the market and we’re shooting videos as we continue working on our debut album,” she added.

The two singles on market are ‘Hindura Isi’ and ‘Harubuzima muriyesu.’ Wibabara revealed that the group is working on a movie dubbed ‘Its Possible’, aimed at promoting girl power in the country and across the world.

"The group believes in unity….because unity is strength.” Wibabara noted.

According to Wibabara, each individual in the group is influential in different aspect, citing Gahongayire as an example, for her roles in the local television series ‘Ikigeragezo cy’ubuzima’.
