KIGALI - Long serving Member of Parliament and women representative, Solange Tuyisenge, resigned from Parliament on Friday.

Speaking to The New Times, House Speaker Rose Mukantabana said that Tuyisenge cited ‘personal reasons’ in her resignation letter.

"We accepted her resignation,” Mukantabana said.
Tuyisenge joined the lower chamber in 2003 as a women representative, she served her five years mandate and returned in 2008 on the same ticket.

In an interview with The New Times, Tuyisenge was reluctant to specify the exact reasons for quitting Parliament, but said that she would continue to serve her nation.

"Resigning from parliament does not mean that I am out of service; I am still serving and will continue serving my nation even out of parliament,” she said.

Tuyisenge is a member of the Liberal Party (PL).
