Editor,
I want to reiterate the Education Minister, Charles Murigande’s appeal to students who were awarded this year’s Rwanda Presidential Scholarship Programme to be disciplined and utilize the opportunity to help build a better country.
Having lived abroad, I can understand some of the temptations that you all will face when you reach the United States.
In many of the US colleges, a culture of partying and irresponsible behavior are pervasive and as young men and women, this culture might seem ‘fun’.
I urge all of you to see the bigger picture and to realize that your mission isn’t simply to pass an exam and get a degree…but rather to help uplift an entire nation. Stay focused and be successful. We wish you all the best.
