UGANDA will field two teams in Sunday’s Kwita Izina challenge tour, Times Sport has learnt.
The second edition of the tour will attract over 40 riders from host nation Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi.
The Executive Secretary of the National cycling federation Emmanuel Murenzi has also revealed that women cyclists will race in the competition.
"We saw it fit to include women riders because they will compete in November’s African Cycling Championship in Kigali,” Murenzi said.
Last year, Abraham Ruhumuriza won the competition to pocket Rwf 0.5m courtesy of Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the sponsors for this year’s edition as well.
Like last year, Rwanda will be represented by seven clubs including Rubavu, Kayonza, Huye, Rapide, Rwamagana, Cine Elmay and Unatave.
On day one, cyclists will ride from Kigali to Rubavu with a stop over in Kinigi. On day two, the contingent will head back to Kigali.
