Nyagatare, Gatsibo girls awarded

NYAGATARE/GATSIBO – Imbuto Foundation, last Sunday, awarded the best female students in last year’s ‘O’ Level and Primary Leaving Examinations in the districts of Gatsibo and Nyagatare, in the Eastern Province.

NYAGATARE/GATSIBO – Imbuto Foundation, last Sunday, awarded the best female students in last year’s ‘O’ Level and Primary Leaving Examinations in the districts of Gatsibo and Nyagatare, in the Eastern Province.

The students were awarded scholastic materials which included school bags, books, calculators, mathematical sets, pens and watches, while one female student, Monica Uwineza who excelled at ‘A’ level, received a laptop and a certificate of merit.

At a ceremony that was held at Nyagatare Secondary School auditorium, the Minister in President’s office, Solina Nyirahabimana, thanked the students for their hard work which enabled them to excel.

"Parents should ensure that their children go to school”, she said.

Presenting a speech from the First Lady, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame, who is the head of the Foundation, the Minister encouraged girls to take education seriously and become role models in class.

Nyirahabimana said that the rewards are meant to boost academic achievements among girls. She added  that as a  result even those girls who had dropped out of schools for various reasons have managed to return back.

The Minister also rewarded two guardian angels (Malayika Murinzi) from Gatsibo and Nyagatare with exotic cows for protecting and caring for adopted children in their communities.

Jean Claude Rubibi, one of the guardian angels, who received a cow, said that he was excited to be among the people playing such a caring role.
