The Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Dr. Agnes Kalibata, has urged dairy farmers to learn from each other in order to take dairy farming to another level.

She made the remarks, yesterday, while officiating at the closing ceremony of the 6th African Dairy Conference and Exhibition at Serena Hotel in Kigali.

"Through sharing experiences and learning from each other, dairy farmers will be able to obtain more knowledge about dairy farming and this will advance it to another level,” she said.

She added that, it was a great opportunity for the Rwandan farmers to interact with experts and practitioners from other parts of Africa during the course of the conference and exhibition.

Kalibata commended the Eastern and Southern Dairy Association (ESADA) for doing a great job by bringing several dairy farmers to Rwanda.

"The exhibition was great, it gave me hope, that many things in the dairy sector which were considered difficult are now doable due to the advanced technology,” she noted.

Speaking to The New Times, Douglas M Keenu, the Managing Director of Desley Holdings K Ltd Food and Dairy equipment supplies, said it was a great opportunity for all dairy farmers to come together and share experiences.
At the end of the forum, some of the dairy exhibitors were awarded with the certificates of appreciation.

ESADA is a regional association of dairy stakeholders comprised of Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
