GOING by yesterday’s display against Kenyan champions Sofapaka, it is only a matter of time before time catches up with the reigning Kagame Cup champions Atraco.
Sam Timbe’s side was completely off-colour as they crumbled to a 3-0 defeat against a physical and well organised Sofapaka managed by former Atraco coach Sam Ssimbwa.
Sofapaka took the lead in the 42nd minute when right back Harry Gentle’s seemingly long pass found its way at the back of the net leaving Atraco goalkeeper Alexis Ganza shell shocked. Three minutes later, Bob Mugalia doubled the lead with a well taken penalty after a foul on winger Evans Wandera.
In the second half, Timbe introduced Donatien Tuziyere and Ronald Kamoga for Hamis Kitagenda and Jean Lomami but they made little difference.
Atraco’s fate was sealed in the 69th minute when Mugalia netted his second goal of the day. Sofapaka, who finished top of Group C with a maximum nine points are still the only side not to concede a goal in the tournament.
Despite being on level points with Atraco and Simba, URA packed their bags following their inferior goal difference.
