AFRICA rally champion Jamie Whyte is looking to wrap up this year’s Africa Rally Championship title with another outstanding display in the KCB Mt. Gorilla rally set for June 4-6.

Salim Abdulgani, the race organiser confirmed Whyte’s involvement during a press conference held mid this week.

"We expect about 25 drivers and Jamie Whyte is one of them,” Abdulgani said.

Others include Uganda’s Jas Mangat, Lee Rose of Kenya, Burundian Valery Bukera, former Rwandan champion Rudy Cantanhede, Uganda’s Super Lady Suzan Muwonge and five-time Kenya rally champion Ian Duncan.

Rwanda’s charge will be led by national champion Davite Giancarlo, Fitidis Christakis, Olivier Costa, Johnny Murengenzi, Elefter Mitraros, Gracien Rutabingwa and Eddy Kwizera.

Giancarlo, who pulled out of the recent KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda rally due to mechanical problems, has confirmed that his Subaru Impreza N10 series will be ready for the race.

"It is being worked on and should be ready for the race,” he said.

The KCB Mt. Gorilla rally which also counts as a round on the national rally championship and KCB East Africa Rally Challenge will cover a total distance of 700km.

On top of KCB’s Rwf28.6m cash package, Hotel Laico, Aquamist, Cogear, Sonatube, SN Brussels, Burn, Volcano, Auto Gaperi, SMS Media, Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc) and the National Police have all chipped in something to make the event a success.

On the ARC Charts, Whyte leads the standings with 115 points, 55 points ahead of Giancarlo who lies in second position. Christakis completes the final podium slot with 47 points.
